Senior Operations

Bulk vessels arrive six or seven times a month; dangerous-goods tanks move in sealed and accounted for. My work is to make sure each one clears customs on time, costs what it should, and leaves nothing to chance. Between the ships and the warehouse I build the quieter machinery too — SAP workflows tested line by line, dashboards that turn delivery data into decisions, and customer claims followed all the way to their root and closed. Eighty to a hundred orders leave each day; the goal is that none of them becomes a story.

My first real ocean. I started moving corporate clients’ cargo across the water — bills of lading, letters of indemnity, freight quoted and chased, payments followed to the day. Then I was handed a team of nearly ten and a harder craft: to coach, to keep a group steady, to turn relationships into results. Two years running I was the company’s best seller — but the part I kept was learning how a team breathes when someone is paying attention to it.

Where it began. Talking to customers directly, tending the company’s Alibaba page, sketching the first processes I’d ever owned — quality control, hygiene, a small marketing plan. Nothing here was large. But it was the first time I saw that a business is just a set of habits made visible — and that someone has to care enough to write them down.
